How Acupuncture Can Help with Fertility

Acupuncture helps by improving blood flow to the reproductive organs, reducing inflammation, reducing stress, improving sleep, and calming the mind. It can also address specific concerns related to fertility like PCOS, endometriosis, and anovulation, among others.

Who Should Consider Fertility Acupuncture

Consider acupuncture if you’re balancing your cycle for natural conception or complementing medical fertility treatments. It can be supportive for irregular cycles, painful periods, PCOS, a history of miscarriage, anovulatory cycles, and other forms of subfertility.

Pre- and Post-Implantation Support

Ask about targeted protocols to support implantation around IUI/IVF or during natural cycles. Many clients choose sessions in the days leading up to and following embryo transfer to promote uterine receptivity and relaxation.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I start fertility acupuncture?

We recommend starting at least three months before you plan to conceive or begin fertility treatments (such as IUI or IVF). Three months covers a full cycle of egg maturation and sperm development, allowing acupuncture and lifestyle changes to influence hormone balance and overall reproductive health. It’s still beneficial to begin as soon as possible, even if you’ve already been trying. Your practitioner will tailor treatments to your current cycle phase and any specific concerns (such as irregular cycles, PCOS, or past miscarriage).

We see couples individually not together but appointments can be booked back to back.

Every fertility journey is unique, so the number of sessions varies.

As a general guide, we often recommend weekly acupuncture for about three months before you plan to conceive or begin fertility treatments such as IUI or IVF.

This three-month window aligns with the natural development cycle of both eggs and sperm and allows time to balance hormones and regulate the menstrual cycle.

If you’re already in an active fertility treatment plan, we may recommend additional visits around key stages—for example, before and after embryo transfer or during medication stimulation—tailored to your clinic’s protocol.

Your registered acupuncturist will create a personalized schedule at your first appointment and adjust it as your needs evolve.
