Anyone who has a desire to support parents through pregnancy, birth and early postpartum can attend our training and become a birth doula. Birth doulas offer education, physical and emotional support during birth and postpartum to expectant families.
Your 3 day birth doula training with Doula Trainer Trena Gallant will give you the education, tools and confidence to go out and begin working as doula immediately.

You receive access to the DONA digital resource manual a few days before your training. The portal is called Sharevault. Your trainer Trena will give you this information via email.
Online Childbirth Education course (requirement for certification)
DONA requires you to be present with your camera on for each training day to be eligible to receive your certificate.

Trena Gallant is a Fellow of the Academy of Certified Childbirth educators, a DONA Approved Birth and Postpartum Doula Trainer, Infant Massage Instructor, Certified Sleep Educator, Child passenger safety technician and HypnoBirthing Practitioner. Her passion for birth and babies began at a very young age, when she frequently offered her family pets doula support (much to their dismay), and helped care for the many foster babies who her parents welcomed into their home.
Qualifications & Experience
After graduating with her Bachelor of Arts, she began pursuing her education in birth and postpartum, and has been educating and supporting families in groups and individually for over 17 years. In addition to supporting families, Trena felt drawn to adult education, and went on to become a Birth and Postpartum Doula Trainer, and established one of only 24 Lamaze Educator programs in the world. Despite her many years of formal education, her most influential teachers continue to be her partner and their four amazing children.

DONA requires your video to be turned on for the entire duration of the course in order to qualify for certification. You may be able to do a make-up assignment to make up for missed time but this must be addressed with your trainer 7 days prior to the start of training.
No experience necessary. The workshop is for many the first step to becoming a Doula! If you would like to start learning before the workshop, you may find it beneficial to read the following prior to workshop attendance:

A membership with DONA is not required to attend the workshop. You may wish to become a member before hand to gain access to DONA resources, trainings, and discounts. Find out more here.
The workshop is one step in the Doula certification process with DONA. You are also not required to become certified in order to work as a doula. You will leave the workshop prepared to begin attending births as a Doula. Find out more about certification here.

You won’t need access to the manual for the training – so don’t worry. There are lots of great resources for you to review afterwards, but you won’t need the manual to follow along.
Yes – it is recommended that you read something from the required reading list ESPECIALLY if you have no context or background knowledge in birth or postpartum.
You WILL be required to read the books if you choose to complete the certification process.
Yes – DONA requires your video to be turned on for the entire duration of the course in order to qualify for certification.
Yes – you will receive a Birth Doula Training certificate and a Postpartum Doula Training certificate. You must have your video turned on in order to receive the certificates.
