During this time hundreds of people have taken our courses and have gone on to become doulas, business owners and even midwives. Kaе̄r offers three types of trainings; Birth Doula Training, Postpartum Doula Training and Combined Birth and Postpartum Doula Training.

DONA International

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancelling 45 days prior to start date: 100% of tuition returned as an account credit at Kaе̄r, minus $50 administration fee. 

DONA requires your video to be turned on for the entire duration of the course in order to qualify for certification. You may be able to do a make-up assignment to make up for missed time but this must be addressed with your trainer 7 days prior to the start of training.

No experience necessary. The workshop is for many the first step to becoming a Doula!  If you would like to start learning before the workshop, you may find it beneficial to read the following prior to workshop attendance:

  • The Birth Partner: A Complete Guide to Childbirth for Dads, Doulas and All Other Labor Companions” by Penny Simkin {A great resource to use during the training and as you start your doula practice}
  • DONA International’s Position Paper: The Birth Doula’s Contribution to Modern Maternity Care by DONA International

A membership with DONA is not required to attend the workshop. You may wish to become a member before hand to gain access to DONA resources, trainings, and discounts. Find out more here.

The workshop is one step in the Doula certification process with DONA. You are also not required to become certified in order to work as a doula. You will leave the workshop prepared to begin attending births as a Doula. Find out more about certification here.

Yes – DONA requires your video to be turned on for the entire duration of the course in order to qualify for certification.

Yes – you will receive a Birth Doula Training certificate and a Postpartum Doula Training certificate. You must have your video turned on in order to receive the certificates.
